Intel dual-core i5 or i7 processors are now available in the power packed Mac mini. The update brings with it better base specifications including new hard drive options, Intel processors and onboard graphics and discrete AMD graphics on the 2.5GHz model, Thunderbolt, HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0 and OS X Lion.
The best part of this update are the new prices. Mac Mini 2.3GHz now starts at just $699 with 2GB DDR3 memory, 500GB hard drive, Intel HD 3000 graphics, Thunderbolt port, HDMI port, FireWire 800 port, four USB 2.0 ports, SDXC card slot, Gigabit Ethernet port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and the latest OS X Lion operating system.
Configuration options include memory upgrades to 4 or 8GB and a fast spin 750GB hard drive.
The higher spec'd 2.5GHz Mac Mini starts at just $899 and bumps the standard memory up to 4GB of DDR3 and adds AMD Radeon HD 6630M discrete graphics on top of the 2.3 GHz model specifications above.
Configurable options for the 2.5GHz model include faster dual-core i7 processor at 2.7GHz, 8GB DDR3 memory, fast spin 750GB hard drive or 256 GB solid state drive, or both the 256GB solid state drive and a 750GB fast spin hard drive.
We're very impressed with the new configurations, features and most importantly the price. As usual Mac Mini is BYO screen and desktop (keyboard and mouse). Use your old PC display and keyboard with the new Mac Mini to save money. All this is packaged in a beautiful single piece aluminium shell that is just 19.7cm square and just 3.6cm high weighing an impressive 1.22 kg.
